Living My God sized Dream

As a creative person, who just happens to love planning events, I spend a lot of time in craft stores.

Call me weird, but sometimes, I go and stroll the aisles just because.

It’s kinda like free therapy. It’s so relaxing and peaceful.

Some folks turn to chocolate, comfort food or wine, but I turn to craft stores.

You see, four years ago I was in a rut. I found myself feeling stuck in a job. I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, I didn’t know exactly what I should be doing. The only things I was sure of were that I wasn’t happy and something had to change.

Oftentimes, we don’t want to listen to the instructions from God. Well, I’ll admit that was me and for several more years I grudgingly stayed in a position that no longer served me nor did I serve it.

Finally, I reached a breaking point and took a long look in the mirror and realized, my plan was not a winning strategy.  Seven months ago, I finally accepted that there was a God sized dream within me and it was time.

Time to stop:
~playing small
~putting limits on God
~working on what I thought should be
~practicing to be something I was never meant to be

I stepped away permanently from the thing that kept me in a miserable state, stifled my creativity and prevented me from seeing a clearer path for my future.

I will admit, it’s not been rainbows and sunshine the past 7 months. But, I have had the ability to allow my creative skills to blossom, I’ve made some awesome connections with people in the event planning field, I’ve learned to be content on a lean budget and most importantly I have learned to trust God.

Seven months ago I couldn’t see Candace Lane Events flourishing, I didn’t have a genuine smile on my face but now, I can see multiple streams of revenue. Now, I can see me being creatively and physically happy, all because I chose to finally accept the God sized dream within.

During one of my therapy sessions at Hobby Lobby, I saw this little book.

It was tucked away under some other items totally unrelated to books. I listened to an interview by the book’s author, Holley Gerth, and she stated “A God sized dream is one that perfectly fits your heart”.  The actual book was published in 2013, just prior to the year I began experiencing that there was more for me.

It’s awesome how God sets the stage, creates a way out, provides a person who has gone through what we are going through and to help us on our journey.

What an awesome God!

I am grateful for my God sized dream because it’s not about me, it’s about helping others creatively plan and experience memorable moments in their life and to help those who are struggling to take the leap or limitations off their dreams.

Sometimes we feel there isn’t enough time in the day to do the work we are purposed to do. Other times we feel that we aren’t adequate enough to take on such a huge life changing project. Let me encourage you that you can! Through trial and error and many bumps in the road I am living proof that you can do it, you can live your God sized dreams.

Need someone who will encourage you through your journey, email me now, I’d love to help.
